This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. We built God Before Scroll to be private by design.
The short version
Your locked apps and Screen Time data never leave your phone. The apps you choose to block are managed entirely on your device by Apple's Screen Time system. We cannot see them, and they are never sent to our servers.
- We collect your email and the faith preferences you choose during onboarding, so we can run your account and personalize your verses.
- We do not sell your personal information.
- We do not show third-party advertising.
- Purchases are handled by Apple; we never see your payment card details.
Information we collect
Account information
When you create an account, we collect your email address and a securely hashed password. If you use Sign in with Apple, we receive the identifier Apple provides and, if you allow it, your name and a relay email address. We never receive or store your Apple password.
Your devotional profile
During onboarding you may tell us about your faith journey — for example your faith stage, tradition, goals, what distracts you, preferred prayer length, and best time of day. We use these preferences to personalize the Scripture and prayers we suggest.
Activity within the app
To make streaks, your prayer journey, and personalized verses work, we store records of your prayer sessions, completions, streaks, and the verses you have already been shown (so we do not repeat them).
Purchase information
God Before Scroll Pro is a one-time purchase made through the Apple App Store. Apple processes the payment. We use RevenueCat to verify and manage your purchase entitlement. We receive confirmation that a purchase occurred and your entitlement status — we do not receive your credit card number or full payment details.
Technical information
Like most apps and websites, our servers automatically record limited technical data such as IP address, device type, and timestamps in order to operate the service securely and diagnose problems.
What stays on your device
God Before Scroll uses Apple's Family Controls, Managed Settings, and Device Activity frameworks to shield the apps you choose. Per Apple's design and our own:
- The specific apps and categories you select to block are stored only on your device (in a private app group container).
- This selection is never transmitted to our servers or any third party.
- Your Screen Time and device-activity data is not collected by us.
How we use information
- To create and manage your account and keep you signed in.
- To personalize the daily verses and prayers we recommend.
- To power streaks, badges, and your faith journey.
- To verify your one-time purchase and unlock Pro features.
- To respond to support requests you send us.
- To keep the service secure, prevent abuse, and fix problems.
We do not use your information for third-party advertising, and we do not sell it.
How information is shared
We share information only with service providers who help us run God Before Scroll, and only as needed:
- Apple — for Sign in with Apple and for processing your purchase through the App Store.
- RevenueCat — to verify and manage your purchase entitlement.
- Our hosting and database providers — to securely store your account and activity data.
We may also disclose information if required by law, or to protect the rights, safety, and security of our users or the service.
Data retention
We keep your account and activity data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we delete your personal data from our active systems within a reasonable period, except where we must retain limited records to comply with legal obligations.
Your rights & choices
- Access & correction — you can review and update your profile in the app.
- Deletion — you can request deletion of your account and associated data at any time by contacting us.
- App permissions — you can revoke Screen Time / Family Controls access in iOS Settings at any time; doing so disables app blocking.

Children's privacy
God Before Scroll is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. Where God Before Scroll is used by a teen under guardian supervision, the guardian is responsible for the account. If you believe a child has provided us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
Security
We protect your information using industry-standard measures, including encrypted connections (HTTPS) and hashed passwords. No method of transmission or storage is perfectly secure, but we work to safeguard your data and limit access to it.
Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will update the "Last updated" date above and, where appropriate, notify you in the app. Your continued use of God Before Scroll after changes take effect means you accept the updated policy.
